ABOUT GETTING NEW FURNITURE

Tracy from Florida asked me to interpret the message in her dream:

I have a roommate who is working on several projects.  She’s always busy… gardening, drawing and personal hobbies.  I had a dream that she comes to me and says, “Hey, we have to get rid of our old furniture because we’re getting new furniture.”  I wake up, wondering what the dream meant.

In general, furniture in a house suggests the many belief systems that sustain your life.  The type of furniture you have in your house symbolizes your general attitude.  Do you believe in warm, comfortable lifestyle?  Or do you prefer ultra-modern simplistic designs?  If you believe in warm/comfortable furniture, then it suggests you like friends who make you feel warm and comfortable.  If you like modern simplicity in your life, then you hate fuss and bother… you want to dress in the latest fashions and you don’t have patience for friends who are needy and require a lot of attention.

Moving furniture in a house often suggests that your “belief systems” are being reconfigured into new alignments.  For example, your favorite food may be pizza, but suddenly you decide you’d prefer eating salads now.  “Moving” suggests simply rearranging your belief systems to suit your own personal evolution.

Getting NEW furniture is a bigger change.  It implies major changes in a belief system.  For example, let’s consider a person who believes that retirement is when you relax, sit on your couch and watch reruns.  A major change is when that same person suddenly decides retirement is for traveling, visiting as many other countries as possible, and meeting people from many different other cultures.

Roommates occupy the same space, usually eat the same foods, and share many of the same experiences.  Therefore, it’s inevitable that what your roommate experiences will have an impact on you.

In this dream, it’s not you who’s getting rid of “old” belief systems… it’s your roommate.  This dream is warning you, the dreamer, that your roommate will be going through a major change in her life, and you will not only “witness” it, you will become involved in some way.  The fact that she says, “WE have to get rid of our old furniture…”  means you’ll contribute to the changes one way or another.

This dream is warning you to be prepared for the major changes that will take place in your roommate’s life.  Did you feel challenged when she said this in the dream?  Or maybe you felt scared?  Or resentful?  Or excited and happy?

Pay attention to how you felt when you woke up and begin planning on how to respond to these new major changes.  If you felt confident and happy for your roommate, then embrace how the changes will also affect your life.  If you felt fear and dread, then maybe it’s time to get a new roommate.

It’s your dream, so it’s your choice how you handle it.

Happy snoozles to you all!  Paying attention to messages from your psyche is always a good idea.
