This
dream came from a woman, Angie, who is experiencing a challenging environment
at work.
Background: Angie has been asked to supervise a team. Her own supervisor has given her free reign
to do what she wants, as long as the team performs at maximum output and
efficiency. In fact, Angie has
implemented several procedures which her supervisor doesn’t really believe will
increase output. However, Angie’s methods
are so successful she’s being promoted to another team.
I'm at work and it’s my last meeting
with my team. They didn't know it was my
last meeting, and it was my opportunity to tell them. We had our usual meeting with plans and
schedules, etc. Afterwards, I met with my supervisor alone. I showed her three headless mannequins wearing
white sweaters. One had an "S"
and it was a Small sweater. One had an "M" and it was Medium. One had
an "L" and it was Large. She
sat across from me at a table with the mannequins between us and looked perplexed.
I said, "Thank you for letting me
borrow these while I was on your team, but I don't need them anymore." She laughed, "I didn't lend you
these." I said no, "You gave
them to me." She got mad, "I
don't want them." I said, "You have no choice. They're yours." And I walked away. End of dream.
This is
a warning dream. Sweaters are worn to keep a person warm and
comfortable. They also function as
apparel which can display a logo to let people know how a person feels or
thinks… or what they are. Just as the
“S” on Superman’s chest defines who and what he is. Apparently, Angie is a very honest
person. As team leader, she has been
very clear to her supervisor what her intentions are, and how she intends to
carry out her responsibilities as team leader.
The sweaters are white, which indicate that her intentions are sincerely
for the “good” of the team.
Now that
she is leaving, she is ready to return the “team leader” duties to her
supervisor. Because her supervisor has
given her free reign to run her team at her own discretion, since the ultimate
responsibility isn’t hers, she considers her methods on “loan” from her
boss. This dream suggests that her boss
doesn’t want to run things the way Angie has done. However, since apparently Angie’s way works,
her boss will probably be required to continue Angie’s established procedures
and methods, despite her personal misgivings.
Her boss just doesn’t want to.
Perhaps she doesn’t have the skills or personality to wear those
sweaters comfortably. Perhaps they just
don’t “suit” her.
Fortunately,
Angie’s boss doesn’t succeed in “guilting” Angie to remain with the team and
continue wearing the sweaters.
Determined to move on, Angie has enough confidence to leave the sweaters
with her ex-supervisor. What the
supervisor doesn’t seem to appreciate is that even though Angie is leaving
behind her modus operandi (the sweaters), there’s still choice involved because
the supervisor can now choose to follow through in a small, medium or large
way. She still has the freedom to
determine just how much she has to stay within Angie’s established procedures.
I say,
good for you, Angie. Your dreamer self handled that
well. Congratulations! Your psyche is guiding you on how to do in life what your dreamer self has done.
As for
my fans… go to bed late or go to bed early.
Either way, happy snoozling!
